We wanted to share a couple things out about your students’ Chromebooks and use of technology.
LOANER CHROMEBOOK CHECKOUT
Students are expected to bring their Chromebook fully charged to school every day. We do have a few loaners, but that number is limited. Starting Monday, September 16th, we will officially start logging students who are having to check out a loaner Chromebook. In addition to the parent/guardian receiving an automated email, the student may have to call home and after enough times may receive a consequence.
The process breaks down as follows:
1st and 2nd time requesting a loaner: warning and an automated email notification home.
3rd time requesting a loaner: automated email notification home, an administrator is made aware, and they call home.
4th time (and any further requests) requesting a loaner: automated email notification home, an administrator is made aware, and a one-hour detention is assigned to the student.
Responsibility is one of the three pillars of living by the Wildcat Way. Please discuss with your student the importance of coming to school prepared.
CHROMEBOOK DAMAGES AND FEES
At the end of August, District 202 shared out their new Technology Plan on how to approach damaged or lost Chromebooks and chargers.
Also starting on Monday, September 16th, we will start logging any laptops that are reported damaged or lost. Our building tech representative will document it, and communication will go home. Any fees assigned will be added to your student’s school fees account.
We thank you for reinforcing our message to your students about being responsible and accountable for their actions. If you have questions about these new asset management plans, feel free to contact the Indian Trail Main Office.
