8th Grade End of the Year Events Agreement and Promotion Date

The third quarter is now over, and your 8^th grade student’s grades are now posted to the Home Access Center.  We wanted to touch base with our 8^th grade families as we approach the end of the year. 

In addition to our 3^rd quarter behavior chats, a Connect-Ed to parents sent on January 12^th indicated that in order to attend the end-of-the-year 8^th grade activities, certain academic and behavior expectations were put in place. The goal was to be completely transparent and upfront that based on one or more expectations, a student may not be afforded the right to attend some or all those activities.  

In the next week, students who might be impacted will meet individually with administration to outline specifically what they need to improve upon during fourth quarter to earn back these events.  Each of those students will receive a “contract” that will be sent home for a parent’s signature.  We will also be communicating with parents directly regarding these conversations.

The Indian Trail Staff has worked tirelessly with students on their academic progress, behavior expectations, and the importance of attending school and being on time for class. As educators, we believe accountability is an important part of learning. While only a small percentage of students may be impacted, there is value in students making the effort to be successful, well-rounded students. We want nothing more for this to be a learning opportunity and for them to be able to participate in these events.

As a reminder, Indian Trail's 8th Grade Promotion will be held on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at 5:30p.m. at Plainfield Central High School.  In the event of inclement weather the makeup date is the following day, Thursday, May 25, 2023 at 5:30p.m.
