In 2016, the Illinois School Code changed in order to allow districts to award high school credit for high school courses taken at the middle school level. As of the end of the 2019-2020 school year, your child will have successfully completed 7th grade honors math qualifying your child for Algebra I Honors in 8th grade. As a reminder, Algebra I Honors is a high school course. It covers all of the topics of Algebra I, but in greater depth and at a more accelerated pace. If you feel at any point that your student struggled with several of the concepts of 7th grade honors math, please understand the rigor and pacing of Algebra I Honors are at a higher level. We would be happy to discuss the options for your 7th grader moving forward.
